Arriving home from his travels on The Enchantress marked the beginning for his family members to gather -

Finally one evening, Scott found himself alone with Murdoch in the study with no chance of interruption. Johnny was in town “visiting a friend” The phrase always inspired an eyeroll. Teresa, along with Maria, was elbow deep in bread dough for tomorrow’s breakfast.

Scott decided the moment was now. “What can you tell me about Kinsey Furlong and Garrett’s Gallop?”

History recorded when he asked his father a question two reactions could happen. First, Murdoch would simply give an answer, which would imply it was an “easy” question. But, if Murdoch rose and walked to the decanter and poured two drinks then Scott had asked a “hard” question. If drinks were poured Scott also noted the amount of scotch poured indicated the length of the explanation.

Scott held his drink up to the light. It appears he had asked a complicated question with a lengthy explanation.
