February 1870 - Soon after The Enchantress was docked at Melbourne, Scott received word there was a note waiting for him with the Harbor Master. A sigh of relief followed by a twinge of guilt when he spotted it was not Johnny's handwriting on the envelope. Instead, it was an invitation to attend a luncheon at Melbourne's newly constructed Government House being extended to all the captains in port. Scott was delighted to have the chance to converse with the other captains.
His smile faded when he read on. Also attending would be young ladies from "Melbourne's finest families". Scott rolled his eyes. Debutantes.
